The MFWI Extension Program is designed specifically for university students who choose to return to MFWI for an additional semester of intensive study of English and American culture. Extension students take study tours to the American Southwest and Monterey, California. Students also become more aware of their own culture by using Power Point software to present an aspect of Japanese culture to a local audience.
This program integrates courses from the sophomore second semester curriculum in Japan (e.g., Cross Cultural Communication, British Literature, and Writing for Business) within their respective blocks of more advanced MFWI skills courses: Conversation, Reading, and Writing. In addition, there are four separate courses: the Culture of the American Southwest, Introduction to English Linguistics, TOEIC Preparation, and either French or German.
The Extension Program provides increased opportunities for interaction with native speakers, expanded use of technology in learning, and additional experiences in combining study and travel.
